What is the Bogus Baker Act (BBA)?
Hello everyone! It’s Mark, and welcome back to our video newsletter.
In this video, I want to talk to you about the BBA or the Bogus Baker Act, a term that until last week I’d never heard of.
I got a call from a very distraught mom whose minor child had been taken to a hospital. One of the psychiatrists or doctors baker acted her. So while she was hysterically crying in the emergency room, a very kind triage nurse came up to her to console her and told her that it was a BBA. The mom asked what BBA is, and the nurse answered that it was the Bogus Baker Act.
As discussed in many other videos, I haven’t used the term BBA or Bogus Baker Act. Unfortunately, chapter 394, also known as the Baker Act, which is designed to give a hospital or facility the ability to stabilize somebody on an emergency basis, tends to get abused when there’s insurance or an opportunity for the hospital facility to make money from the person. So, if you hear the term BBA or Bogus Baker Act or if you hear me using it in the future, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If your loved one is currently the victim of BBA or Bogus Baker Act, call me because there’s a small window of opportunity to fight the BBA and get your loved one out. I never charge for a consultation, and our phone is on 24 hours a day. We’re always happy to help and chat with somebody.
With that said, take care of yourselves and watch out for the BBA, the Bogus Baker Act.
